How to Grow Green Calabrese Broccoli Microgreens

What You’ll Need

Shallow tray (3–5 cm deep) with drainage holes

Fine seedling mix, coco coir, or sterile potting soil

Spray bottle or bottom-watering tray

Sowing Instructions

Fill tray with moist growing medium to about 3–4 cm deep.

Evenly scatter seeds over the surface — a dense layer is fine, but avoid overlapping.

Gently press seeds into the surface, but do not cover with soil (they need light to germinate).

Mist thoroughly with water.

Cover the tray with a lid or another tray to create a blackout period for 2–3 days.

After Germination

Once the seeds sprout (usually 2–3 days), remove the cover.

Place the tray in bright indirect sunlight or under grow lights.

Ensure 12–16 hours of light daily for healthy growth.

Watering

Mist lightly daily, or use bottom watering to prevent mold and encourage strong root development.

Keep soil consistently moist, not wet.

Harvesting

Ready to harvest in 7–10 days, when microgreens are 5–8 cm tall.

Cut above the soil line with sharp scissors or a clean blade.

Harvest just before the first true leaves fully open for the best taste and nutrition.
